Ethics & Sourcing

Everything used for my art has been sourced responsibly. The welfare of animals is my top priority and I'd never purposefully harm them for my art! 

 

☆ BONES ☆

I source all my bones & teeth from scavenging in the Uk wildlife, from roadkill or from owl pellets that have also been found. I try to find most of these bones myself, however I don't always have the time, so I also source from a select few sellers in the Uk that find them the same way. I ensure that these sellers are genuine and trustworthy. All of the bones I recieve are stained, dirty, sunbleached, mossy or broken which are all good indicators that they were nature found.

 

I never purposefully harm animals, hunt or buy bones online if the seller is unsure how they were sourced. I will never buy from fur farms nor will I purchase bones already cleaned as I like to see visual proof that they have been nature found and I also prefer to clean them myself as everyone has different methods!

 

☆ COBWEBS ☆

I source all my cobwebs myself from my garden in the UK. I ensure that I only collect abandoned webs so no spiders are ever harmed or disturbed. I keep a close eye on the webs before collecting & I will only preserve broken webs that clearly have no owner! 🕷

 

 

☆ BUTTERFLYS & MOTHS ☆ 

I source all butterfly & moth wings from a certified wholesaler. They collect the wings from their butterfly houses after they have died a natural death. 

Most of these wings are slightly damaged or discoloured but that just proves that these beautiful insects have lived a full, happy life.
